  • Don’t miss out on Spanish Club this year. Spanish Club is open to join until Friday. The next meeting is Monday October 2.
  • Did you know, that a study was done that showed 67.4% of LGBTQ students heard “gay” used in a negative way and 58.8% heard other homophobic remarks at school. In honor of Ally week (and every week) let’s stand up for one another so that no one hears these negative remarks in our school.
  • Northmont is participating in the McDonald’s High School Grant Challenge, courtesy of McDonald’s Restaurants of the Miami Valley and WHIO Touchdown 7. We’ve got the chance to win a $10,000 activities grant! The school in our division with the most votes at the end of the competition wins! Visit highschoolgrantchallenge.com every day to cast your vote for NHS.  Voting runs through October 27.
  • Today is the first in-school performance for the Muse Machine! Members should have received a pass from your 1st period teacher. This is also your pass back to class so don’t lose it! See Miss Sullivan in room 1203 if you have any questions.
  • Are you interested in traveling and seeing the world?  Do you have a passion for the environment and nature?  Do you seek adventure?  Mr. Shaltry is planning a marine ecology trip to Belize this summer.  There will be a meeting at 7 pm on Thursday, September 28, in room 4207. For any other questions come see him in room 4207.  The trip is open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.
  • Homecoming is right around the corner.  If you’re planning on attending the dance on Saturday, October 14 and ​you ​plan on bringing a date who does not ​currently ​attend Northmont, please stop by the Principal’s office and pick up your guest form.  Remember that only seniors can bring a guest who does not attend, or did not attend Northmont.
  • Sophomores! Your annual field trip to the Miami Valley Career Tech Center will be here before you know it and your permission slips should be turned in to your Language Arts teacher now!  Don’t forget to completely fill out both sides of the form and have your parent or guardian sign it. Sophomores who return their permission slips by the Friday, October 6 deadline will be guaranteed a spot on the trip.  We will accept them late IF we can, however, we cannot promise you will be included on the trip.  Please see your guidance counselor with any questions.
  • Your yearbooks are on sale for $65 until September 29. There are order forms in the Main Office or you can order online at jostensyearbooks.com. See Mrs. Brannon for questions.
  • Monday, October 2, will be Blue Day to take a stand against bullying. All students wearing blue to stand up against bullying should gather in the Thunderdome at 7:45 am for a group picture. Text @gdg9kf to 81010 to get a Remind text.
  • The Faithwalk Christian Bible study meets every Thursday after school from 3:00-4:00 in room 1204.
  • Seniors: Northmont has a representative from Sinclair who is with us on Mondays from 8 AM to approximately Noon in Office 1109. Her name is Tabitha Shuey and she will be happy to answer your questions and advise you regarding all things Sinclair. In order to ensure you are able to meet with her on any given Monday, it is recommended that you sign up, in advance, in the Counseling Center. Questions?  See your guidance counselor.
  • Seniors: Case Western Reserve University is currently accepting student applications for their Diversity Overnight, Nov. 12 and 13. Applications are due Monday, Oct. 2. Diversity Overnight is designed for smart and curious high school seniors from diverse backgrounds, to give them an in-depth look at the opportunities available to their students. See your Guidance Counselor for additional info.
  • If you are a leader in your class with top academics, you may be interested in attending the HOBY Leadership Seminar, a fun and exciting learning experience, where you will meet and interact with renowned leaders.  This is a four day event held in the summer, exclusively for sophomores.  Cost is $195.  Only one sophomore will be selected to represent Northmont!  Applications are available in the Counseling Center with Ms. Snyder.Here is the website link for more information:  http://www.hoby.org/
