New Athletic Directer and Assistant Principal Mr. Micah Harding began the new school year at Northmont with a ruptured Achilles tendon, after injuring it days before school began.

“I was playing Friday morning basketball and I drove in and felt a pop,” said Harding, who was playing a pickup basketball game with other members of the staff.

Harding tore his Achilles tendon, which required surgery on September 13.

“I was in the cast for 2 weeks and in a boot for a month,” said Harding. “I can start rehab a month and a half after surgery that was on September 13.”

At work, Harding can’t go up the stairs at the school or at the stadium. He uses a scooter to get around in the hallway.

“At home I can’t carry my kids and it’s hard to take showers,” said Harding, who has two toddlers at home

Harding will be in physical therapy for 10 weeks then it will be March until he is 100%.

Harding interviewed for the job of Athletic Director in February, and said he knew he would come to this district because he loved the way the community supported its schools.
