On April 14, 2017, the Northmont varsity baseball reached 1,000 wins.

“I am proud to be part of the program. The program has had many great head coaches including Coach Yensel, Coach Brown, Coach Ramsey, Coach Roberts and Coach Dill. We have had many great assistant coaches, too. What is most important is all the players who have played at Northmont through the years. They are the ones who have won the 1,000 games, ” said Mr. Chuck Harlow, varsity head baseball coach.

Current varsity players are honored to be the team to reach 1,000 wins.

“It is very humbling because thinking about all of the players to play, it took almost 11 years to accomplish this. I feel like if the previous teams had not won all of those games, we would not be in the situation we are now, ” said senior Dylan Guth.

The Northmont baseball program started in 1960.

“It is almost unreal that out of all the players that have gone through this program, I was lucky enough to be a part of the 1,000th win. It wouldn’t have been possible without the previous teams and the great people I play with now,” said senior Collin Hobert.

According to assistant coach Mr. Jim Smith, Northmont becomes only the 12th high school baseball program in Ohio to reach this barrier.

“It feels good to be on the team to reach 1,000 wins. It’s cool to be part of a program that got that many wins. I think we can go pretty far into the post season if we stay tough and play as well as we have,” said junior Adam Bendinelli.

In addition to Guth, Hobert, and Bendinelli, members of the 2017 varsity team include junior Garrett McGough, junior Nick Moomey, senior Tyler Defibaugh, junior Caden Cronebach, senior Thomas Walsh, junior Carson Wagoner, junior Jon Eber, junior CJ Van Schaik, junior Ryan Tanto, junior Logan Jewsikow, senior Will Ludington, junior Cole Stephens, junior Ryan Pullins, and junior Austin Weaver.
